A Canvasser Tried to Kiss Me

A canvasser tried to kiss me tonight, but he didn't get to. On purpose. Too bad for him. :)
I'm being selective these days.

No, there was no date or anything. It was during the post-work social time.

I got to go out canvassing at work today - educating people about what's happening at the Hanford Nuclear site. This is not something I'll be doing. It's just a for-fun cross training thing. But there were lots of cute guys there. On guy who is an English teacher and was just doing this for the summer was great conversation. But the boy who tried to kiss me. Uh - no. Besides. I'm doing this whole working hard to date LDS boys thing.

  • *giggle* May I ask how someone *tries* to kiss someone? Did he pucker up and lean in for the big landing whilst you stepped aside, causing him to fall over? Or was he just edging into your bubble and making eyes at you? Or maybe you shouldn't tell me; my imagination is having lots of fun with the idea...

  • Exacntly. The story is left purposefully vague for your sake. It was a true try, though . . . not just eyes.

  • So, what you're telling us is that there were no LDS boys thoughtful enough to show up and take the time to educate people about nuclear sites?

What exactly were you educating the people about... the fact that the groundwater was contaminated by all the leaking waste or the fact that the DOE can't be held liable for any problems that might stem from said contamination? Did you know that they had to take the plant out of comission yesterday because a few of the rods didn't completely insert into the reactor during a shutdown.

don't eat yellow snow or glowing spring water.

  • Yup - I knew that. It's the worst polluted area in the entire western hemishpere, and only 1 place in Russia (can you guess?) and one 1 in China are worse.
The waste there is leaking, and all their current practices are legal. They're buring the waste in unlined dirt pits, when in Washington they can't legally bury regular garbage in unlined pits.

The technology to clean the waste does exist, but the feds haven't givin enough $ to make it happen. Instead, they're planning on trucking (unguarded) 70,000 more truckloads accross the country to store more waste there.

Don't swim in the Columbia river!

My work is working on getting legal means to happen to get Hanford cleaned up before they let more waste in.
